  • Lead Market Access Portfolio Success for the Government Channels: Serve as the ultimate owner of the national market access strategy and performance success within our federal and state government payer channels for the US portfolio, ensuring account performance goals and Business Unit aligned access goals are met or exceeded.
  • Oversee Government Accounts: Directly manage and oversee relationships with the largest Federal and State accounts and payers in the US, focusing on customer acquisition, contracting, retention, and pull-through performance across the DoD, VA, Medicaid, IHS and Kaiser channels.
  • Manage Channel Directors and Executives (Ads and AEs): Provide day-to-day coaching, performance management, and strategic direction for the Director of Federal Contracting, Regional Director of Federal Accounts, and Director of Medicaid Contracting, including their respective AEs, to enhance account success, execute pull-through initiatives, and foster robust internal and external stakeholder partnerships.
  • Strategic Area Planning: Collaborate with Payer Strategy, Area Marketing and Area Access teams, as well as Brand Business Units field leadership (BUs), to develop and execute strategic plans that are tailored to the respective government channels, including key customer influencers (e.g., Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Indian Health Services, National and State Medicaid plans, and Kaiser), and other market trends (e.g., rise of Pharmacy Drug Approval Boards (PDABs))
  • Customer & Stakeholder Expertise: Act as the national expert on government channel customer types, market trends, and payer landscapes, effectively translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Area Access Leaders, Regional Access Leadership Teams, BUs, MAx strategy, Area Marketing, and MAx leadership to ensure cohesive strategy development, resource allocation, and issue resolution.
  • Analytics & Decision-Making: Oversee government contracting support from MABI and other analytics teams to shape data-driven decisions, refine account management tools, and optimize tooling for team’s account execution.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify best practices, share learnings with cross-functional teams, and proactively recommend process or strategic enhancements to advance AbbVie’s market access objectives in the government channels.
  • Performance Accountability: Drive in-region customer account performance and pull-through, using data and analytics tools to ensure incentive structures and resources are in place for optimal account execution.

Significant Work Activities:

  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day)
  • Ideal candidate is located in a metro area aligned to one of AbbVie’s corporate offices, including Lake County, Florham Park, NJ and Irvine, CA,, however, position could be field based and ideally near a large airport
  • Required travel approximately 30-40% of the time


Qualifications


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • >7years Sales management experience, or equivalent C-suite account management experience preferred
  • >5 Sales and/or Marketing related focus experience
  • >3 years Account management experience
  • >3 years of Market Access Experience
  • >10 total combined years of health care industry experience
  • Proven management experience leading teams or managing direct reports in a complex, matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, or PharmD)
  • Deep understanding of regional payer systems, healthcare policy, and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to foster cross-functional collaborations and effectively influence senior leadership.
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude with a track record of problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen to drive data-informed decisions.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
