This team interacts with health insurers to secure coverage and reimbursement for our patients. The Subsidiary Billing Specialist (Appeals) is expected to understand all aspects of the insurance appeal process and can identify insurance trends and provide impactful feedback. The result of our work is an innovative, flexible, highly scalable<b> billing operation </b>in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.</p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Performs research of payer rejections and denials in regards to genetic testing claims</li><li>Produces high volume of successful appeals to insurance carriers to obtain payment</li><li>Collaborates with multiple teams and to develop best practices and resolve denial issues</li><li>Reviews payor medical policies to determine cause of denial</li><li>Consistently follows -ups with insurances on payor denials</li><li>As needed, communicate via telephone with clients, professionally and concisely.</li><li>Participates in projects that extend beyond your day to day to stretch you to think outside the box</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent required</li><li>Minimum two+ years prior experience dealing with healthcare billing, insurances/claims or accessing payor portals required</li><li>Experience with Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and different denials & denial codes from insurances strongly preferred</li><li>Experience with Medicare/Medicaid/ HMOs/PPOs/commercial insurances strongly preferred</li><li>Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience, strongly preferred</li><li>Knowledge/experience with Xifin, CRM applications (i.e. Salesforce) preferred</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Other desired skills:</b></p><ul><li>Concise and professional communication skills to interact with clients, team members and management via various methods, i.e., telephone, email and virtually.</li><li>Detail oriented with good organizational skills</li><li>Ability to multitask within multiple systems</li><li>Adaptable with changing duties, following an SOP but able to problem solve and deviate as required by specific requests</li><li>Ability to manage time and tasks independently while working under minimal supervision</li><li>Professional and courteous email communication</li><li>Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to improving patients’ lives</li><li>Enjoys problem-solving in a dynamic, fast paced, team-based and rapidly changing environment</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Remote Work, requirements</b></p><ul><li>Dedicated work from home space </li><li>Internet download speed of at least 50 megabytes per second </li></ul><p></p><p><b>Application Window Closes:  1/1/2026</b></p><p><b>Pay Range:  $</b> <b>17.75 - $21.00 per hour</b></p><p><b>Shift: Mon-Fri, 9:00am - 6pm Eastern Time</b></p><p></p><p></p><p>All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. </p><p></p><p><b>Benefits: </b>Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
