Performs a full range of payroll tax functions including balancing accounts, completing payroll tax filings, and comprehending payroll tax compliance information. Communicates expertly with Intuit employees, clients, and tax agencies to provide world-class service to Intuit's client base. Applies established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local tax regulations and does so with efficiency and accuracy. Lives Intuit’s values in all aspects of work. Works seamlessly in a remote home office environment. Be willing to work a flexible schedule including 40+hrs during times of high peak volume. Must be willing to flex down to working a minimum of 20 hours per week during low volume, if needed. Able to work 5 days each week with a minimum of 4 hours per day even during low volume periods of time. 


Responsibilities

  • Understand and differentiate between different payroll tax types and tax payment methods.
  • Navigation of internal systems including Salesforce, PSP, CS, Public Login, QuickBase, Sentinel, Case360, SuperForms, and Google Drive
  • Understand deposit and filing frequency requirements, including semi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually to meet agency compliance requirements
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to accurately process tax filings, casework, agency filing website, and apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills when procedure isn't documented
  • Calculate, validate, and remit hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax payments in a responsible way to eliminate financial risk
  • Efficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets to manually balance hundreds of thousands of dollars to determine payroll calculations for tax filings
  • Understand and appropriately apply payroll item taxation for multiple state and federal jurisdictions to mathematically determine if wage and tax amounts are balanced in customer account and tax filings
  • Process payroll and tax filings with a high attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting and taxation to reduce the risk of tax notices
  • Utilize existing knowledge and resources to support multiple payroll departments
  • Independently Manage Work In Progress (WIP) and prioritize daily processes in accordance with client and agency requirements
  • Effectively self-manage time and workload to meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication through email, Slack, and virtual meetings
  • Use available resources to problem-solve and know when to seek additional help
  • Identify errors, process gaps, or areas for efficiency and communicate to team leads
  • Review others’ work for accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in department projects/pilots for process improvements

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of payroll required
  • Deliver in all aspects of work by providing excellent customer service to delight clients
  • Can use documented knowledge, tools, SOPs, and problem-solving skills to solve casework and escalates issues when appropriate
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality standards
  • Experience with intermediate Microsoft Excel functions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Intermediate computer skills, including 10-key, typing, and keyboard shortcuts
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of previous payroll, tax preparation, bookkeeping, or accounting experience

Preferred experience

  • Prior working knowledge of QuickBooks or Intuit payroll products
  • Payroll tax payment and filing experience
  • Post-secondary payroll education completed or in progress
