Job Description Job Description Job location will be at the Brandon Ace Hardware store. JW Niederauer Inc. is a family owned company with six Ace Hardware locations surrounding Sioux Falls, SD in Brandon, Dell Rapids, Harrisburg, Hartford, Lennox, and Tea. Pay: 45,000 to 70,000 based on experience Benefits: PTO, Health, Vision, and Dental insurance available, Flexible work hours, Cost plus 10% on merchandise, paid training, bonus pool opportunities. POSITION SUMMARY: Technician will be responsible for the safe and thorough diagnostic, service, and repair of all customer, B2B, and rental machines that come through our 6 store chain. Key goals for this role will include helping other technicians to keep days out to a reasonable number, while keeping the work area clean, and upholding a respectful work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the efficient and thorough diagnosis of a variety of OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) related issues. This will include but not be limited to: Battery Operated Equipment, Garden Tractors, Zero-Turn mowers, Walk Behind Mowers, String Trimmers, Chainsaws, Aerators, Dethachers, and much more. Required to perform all repairs from the diagnostic procedure to dealership quality and OEM specifications. Use Dealer support channels such as Techlines, Service Manuals, and dealer portals to accomplish tasks related to each order. Track and document all work performed on each order in detail. Perform routine PM Services on any and all OPE in a timely manner. Understand order urgency levels and how to prioritize orders properly Demonstrate time manager by keeping an Automated Sharpening machine running while working on other orders. Keep work area clean and uphold a professional work environment. Work with other technicians to keep days out to the desired time frame. Report any urgent issues to the Service Manager. Help with keeping inventory accurate and accounted for via the Management Software. COACHING AND TRAINING: Paid, On the job training will be completed periodically. Work with the Service Manager to schedule and keep up to date on industry training. Must pass all training courses with a MINIMUM of 85% on all tests Must be coachable, able to learn the policy and procedures of the entire Service Dept. SAFETY, COMPLIANCE AND STORE ENVIRONMENT: Abide by safety standards set by Service Manager at all times Must be able to safely operate power tools, pneumatic tools, and bench tools Understand and keep safe lifting habits while handling equipment Use of PPE when required such as eye protection, ear protection, gloves, etc. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Mechanical Aptitude. Experience working on OPE is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and grow with our expanding shop. Ability to lift a minimum of 60, sometimes reaching 100+ lbs. Ability to pass certification tests if not already obtained. Standing for long periods of time and working with hands. Dress according to company policy Must have own vehicle or ability to get to and from work (Brandon, SD) Must be Punctual and reliable. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to understand and diagnose various OPE related systems. Efficiently and Effectively diagnose electrical system faults without the use of DTCs. Basic Hydraulics understanding and diagnostics. Diagnostic/Repair of Powertrain systems on OPE. Ability to use service manuals to aid in diagnostics and repairs. Failure analysis knowledge/skills. Ability to multitask Verbal and written (typed) communications skills. Proper grammar will be required in all service notes. Basic Computer Skills Technician will need to be proficient using a computer All repair work is processed and tracked through a cloud based Management System the technician will be required to be extremely proficient with. Strong organizational and time management skills WORK ENVIRONMENT: Working conditions will typically (but not be limited to) Loud work environment Operating Machinery Exposed to fumes such as exhaust or fuel vapors Dusty, greasy, or oily equipment Occasional work to be performed outside in heat/cold depending on weather.
