Must remain calm, flexible, and willing to see other perspectives. Provide recognition and support to both staff and volunteers for their individual contributions. Assure that every individual who enters the Kansas Humane Society is recognized and treated as a potential donor.<br><br><strong>Operations: </strong>Oversee and direct all activities in daily operations of the store. Fully utilize all aspects of QuickBooks software to:<br><br><ul><li> Process sales and sales tax, track inventory and re-ordering points, and assess product sales.</li><li> Compile daily, weekly and monthly reports.</li><li> Provide critical assessment of product sales, profit and expenses.<br><br></li></ul>Oversee inventory, organization, and display of merchandise, including weekly ordering, receiving verification and stocking.<br><br>Review and oversee daily management of sales and cash and other payment types with appropriate staff and volunteers.<br><br>Work directly with vendors to adhere to budget established for store operation. Incur non-budgeted expenses only upon approval of the Community Engagement Director.<br><br>Maintain current Standard Operating Procedures manual, manage scheduling and activities of the volunteers and create a positive work environment. Implement and enforce retail store policies as required and provide regular and periodic reports as requested.<br><br>Recommend ideas for an online store to the Community Engagement Director and implement/maintain approved format.<br><br>Plan, create and implement a merchandise sales tent at the Kansas Humane Society’s largest fundraiser, Woofstock via coordination with the Community Engagement Director. Schedule volunteers to work the event.<br><br><strong>Marketing Strategy</strong>: Recommend strategic marketing, promotional and sales opportunities, and creative ideas to being foot traffic into the store as a destination, via coordination with the Community Engagement Director and Director of Marketing & Communication, as appropriate and within budget. Implement and assess approved strategies. Oversee interior and exterior aesthetics of the store, including merchandise display, janitorial, signage, etc., to promote the Kansas Humane Society.<br><br><strong>Product Education:</strong> Educate adopters, staff, and volunteers about retail products available for purchase.<br><br><strong>Quality Assurance:</strong> Responsible for rotating dated merchandise in order to provide the best product available.<br><br><strong>Training:</strong> Participate in staff training, cross training and development opportunities. A respect for the human/animal bond is a must. Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions with limited supervision. Strong knowledge of Retail Cloud software and Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Excel preferred. 2 – 5 years or more of paid managerial experience in a retail environment preferred, or any combination of education and/or experience that provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance. The ability to demonstrate and train others in sales techniques and product display and demonstration. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with volunteers.
