Job Mission Lead the implementation of the ASML Approach to Tax in the United States, setting the standard for excellence, innovation, and integrity. Champion integrated tax advice, robust risk mitigation, and unwavering compliance with all relevant regulations. Develop and execute strategies that address the unique challenges of US and global tax environments, ensuring alignment with global policies and local requirements. Monitor and analyze developments in US and international tax regulations, proactively adapting strategies to keep ASML ahead of regulatory change and risk. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed tax strategies into broader business objectives, fueling ASML’s vision and growth in the US. Advocate for and implement best practices in tax compliance and risk management, especially in regions with complex and evolving tax landscapes. Inspire a compliance-driven mindset, making tax excellence a cornerstone of ASML’s success. Role and responsibilities: Oversee multiple areas of tax expertise, translating the global Tax and Customs strategy into a regional strategy supported by actionable policies and roadmaps for the US. Advise senior management, including executive leadership, to empower well-founded decisions that drive business impact and ensure compliance. Integrate the US tax function with global objectives and regulatory requirements, ensuring seamless alignment across the organization. Handle complex and sensitive matters with high business impact, including strategic regulatory issues and escalations. Proactively manage long-term relationships with US government officials, tax authorities, and other external stakeholders, balancing these with company internal interests. Report to Tax Leadership Team Member and lead direct reports, cultivating a high-performing, collaborative team focused on compliance, tactical and operational excellence. Leadership Set the vision for the ASML Approach to Tax in the US, inspiring others to achieve team and organizational success. Educate and coach senior colleagues within the worldwide Tax and Customs organization and the broader Expert Advisory Group. Build effective teams, lead by example, facilitate decision-making, and define clear priorities that support compliance and risk mitigation. Focus on talent development for self and others, actively securing succession management for the regional Tax and Customs function. Ensure implementation, communication, and execution of strategy, policies, and objectives, with a strong focus on compliance and operational excellence. Serve as the voice of the customer (business) within the Tax and Customs department, influencing policy and objectives development. Internal Stakeholder Management Drive strategic alignment with key internal and external stakeholders on tax and customs topics, escalating operational matters as needed to ensure compliance and risk mitigation. Engage continuously with stakeholders, including regional tax specialists and expertise areas, within the worldwide Tax and Customs organization. Act as an ambassador for the Expert Advisory Group, connecting frequently with other Finance domains such as Finance Business Partners (FBP), Business Insights & Control BI&C), and ASML Business Services (ABS), and escalating to senior stakeholders when necessary. (Sr.) Managers, (Sr.) Directors and (S)VP, from Business & Sectors, BI&C, FBP, EA and ABS. External (regional) Tax specialists including Tax Authorities of the country or countries of responsibility. Build and maintain long-term relationships with US tax authorities, government officials, consultants, and in-house tax professionals. Act as an advisory partner to senior management, providing strategic guidance on complex tax matters and autonomously provide integrated tax advice, ensuring risk mitigation (including definition of controls), safeguard compliance and advocating a compliance mindset. Tax & Customs Operational Excellence Lead key Tax and Customs initiatives in the US, driving operational excellence and identifying significant opportunities for long-term improvements in compliance and risk management. Be a role model for working smarter and more innovatively, setting the pace for continuous improvement and excellence in tax operations. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics, Accounting, or related field; CPA highly desired.
  • Extensive experience as a senior tax professional in US and international environments, with expertise in advisory, compliance and risk management.
  • Proven ability to add business value beyond Tax and Customs, driving organizational goals and objectives.
  • Proven ability to drive technology capabilities’ development and embedding in the Tax & Customs domain and specifically the US Tax function.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to explain complex tax topics clearly and persuasively to all audiences.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant developments in the Tax and Customs domain, including regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Experience working with adjacent expertise areas, like Technical Accounting and Treasury, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong networking skills, with a track record of building and maintaining relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups.
