Our design team in Ruesselsheim is looking for a CMF Design Manager (m/f/d).


What to expect

  • Define Opel’s Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) vision and strategy aligned with the brand’s design DNA and product portfolio.
  • Responsible for ensuring the portfolio coherence: guarantee consistency and emotional impact of CMF across all vehicle lines, from concept to production.
  • Translate design concepts into impactful and feasible CMF solutions that maintain coherence across all models.
  • Ensure CMF direction supports future mobility trends, sustainability goals, aligned with the Brand DNA.
  • Represent CMF strategy in leadership reviews for the Opel Brand.
  • Research and identify emerging trends, materials, and technologies relevant to automotive design and future mobility.
  • Oversee quality execution from advanced design through production, ensuring premium standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the CMF team, fostering creativity, sensitivity, and collaboration.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships with Exterior, Interior, UX Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams.


What we expect

  • Degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Fashion Design, or related field.
  • Significant experience in CMF Design, at least partly within the automotive industry.
  • Proven expertise in color development, materials innovation, coatings and surface finishes.
  • Strong ability to lead and motivate teams with empathy, openness, and purpose.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to connect across disciplines and hierarchies.
  • Strategic and curious mindset, with a passion for advanced design and research-driven innovation.
  • Fluent in English
