About the position

The ASCEND program is a significant initiative by Southern Company aimed at transforming business operations and enhancing customer experience through technology modernization. This program involves implementing multiple applications, including replacing the existing meter data management (MDM) and customer service systems (CSS) with a new Oracle customer information system (CIS) called customer to meter (C2M). Additionally, it includes the implementation of an advanced analytics platform, a customer experience (CX) platform, and a commercial engagement platform (CEP). This new platform will be rolled out in phases to Alabama Power, Georgia Power, and Mississippi Power. An ASCEND organization is being established to support the electric operating companies in achieving a modernized, efficient, and digital customer experience, enabling deeper customer engagement and personalized interactions. This initiative is recognized as one of the most comprehensive Customer Service and Marketing transformation efforts in the company's history. The successful candidate will be an employee of the operating company but report to the CIS/MDM Program Team, with potential reporting to a SCS or operating company leader for delivery. Positions will be filled based on job requirements, business needs, and project scope. This role is expected to be hybrid, with approximately 25% travel anticipated, and preference is given to candidates located within the electric service territory. The location for this position is flexible between Atlanta, Birmingham, and Gulfport.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and implement integration solutions using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC)
  • Stay updated with the latest OIC features, advanced concepts, and industry trends to continuously improve integration solutions
  • Ensure integrations adhere to industry and Southern Company standards
  • Apply advanced concepts to optimize integration processes
  • Utilize data mappers, lookups, JavaScript libraries, and orchestration to streamline integration workflows
  • Implement fault handling, event management and monitoring to ensure robust integrations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integrations with other systems and applications
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for integration processes and solutions
  • Manage changing priorities and direction with varying level of detail and with minimal supervision, all while driving results

  • Effectively organize tasks, manage multiple shifting priorities, and meet tight deadlines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Analyst or Architect with a focus on Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC)
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, best practices, and design principles
  • Proficiency in OIC components such as integrations, scheduled integrations, connections, adapters, triggers, and orchestration
  • Experience with REST, WSDL, JSON, SOAP, and integration technologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the ASCEND program and stakeholder groups
  • High degree of initiative and personal ownership
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Adaptable to change and provide value in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to apply strong strategic thinking to a diverse set of opportunities and challenges, serving as a true strategic partner and enabler of all facets related to business and customer processes and enabling technology

Nice-to-haves

  • Oracle certification in OIC or related technologies is preferred
